My main responsibility was to breaking news, like sporting event recaps, and the announcement that Otterbein’s men’s basketball coach was retiring after 40 years. I heard rumors late into the previous evening, and after a player confirmed early the next morning, I sent out a tweet shortly before 10 a.m.

What followed was a series of updates, and a story. The university finally made their own announcement after 5 p.m. Click the images to read the full stories.

Gov. Mitt Romney also visited Otterbein’s campus during the 2012 Presidential Campaign.  A photographer and I received media passes and were sandwiched between reporters from the AP and CNN during his discussions with students. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my undergraduate career.
